Sonia Ayala leads our care management and community health worker teams at Esperanza Health Centers as Director of Care Management. Prior to joining Esperanza, Sonia was a sexual assault advocate with the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago. She provided on-call medical, legal and police advocacy to survivors of sexual violence. Sonia is a first-generation graduate –the first in her family to earn not one, but two masters degrees (one in social work, the other in women and gender studies) from Loyola University Chicago. Sonia is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and her passion is to serve our immigrant communities of color. Sonia is a dog mom and loves going on trail walks with her dog, Sol. She also enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends and exploring new restaurants/cafes during her free time.
