Dr. Alejandro Clavier is the medical director at Esperanza 63rd Street. Dr. Clavier is no stranger to the Esperanza family, having been our medical director between 2008 and 2015. In 2015 he developed his independent practice, VIDA Pediatrics, and in 2021 returned to Esperanza as a site medical director. Dr. Clavier is a member of the executive committee of the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (ICAAP) and served as a member of the Illinois Medicaid Advisory Committee (MAC) from 2019 until 2023. Dr. Clavier completed his pediatric residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and served as chief resident. After completing his General Academic Pediatrics Fellowship program and master’s in public health (MPH), he became an assistant professor at UIC. Dr. Clavier has a particular interest in oral health, nutrition, and physical activity. Dr. Clavier lives in Chicago with his wife and two children. In his spare time, he enjoys running, biking, and other outdoor activities.
