Dr. Yesenia Yepez has an impressive background that showcases her commitment to serving underserved communities and educating future generations of medical practitioners. Before joining Esperanza, Dr. Yepez held the position of Medical Director at PCC Community Wellness – Salud Medical Center, where she provided comprehensive primary care, including high-risk and surgical maternity services. Her role allowed her to advocate for vulnerable newborns and perinatal patients as a member of the Illinois Department of Public Health Perinatal Advisory Committee.

With a strong educational foundation, Dr. Yepez earned her medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She further honed her skills through the West Suburban Family Medicine Residency Program and completed a Maternal Child Health Fellowship at West Suburban Medical Center. Dr. Yepez is also Board Certified in Obesity Medicine, reflecting her commitment to addressing and preventing chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.

Passionate about patient care and medical education, Dr. Yepez served as Core Faculty at the West Suburban Family Medicine Residency Program and, most recently, at the Loyola-MacNeal Family Medicine Residency Program. Her dedication extends to her current role as the Associate Program Director and Site Medical Director for the Rush-Esperanza Family Medicine Residency Program based at Esperanza Health Centers in vibrant Brighton Park.

What drew Dr. Yepez to Esperanza was the patient population and the opportunity to teach Family Medicine residents who share a love for the community and a desire to serve traditionally underserved patients. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Yepez enjoys spending quality time with her family, finding relaxation by the ocean, and indulging in watercolor painting. Her multifaceted background, encompassing leadership, education, and a genuine passion for healthcare, makes Dr. Yesenia Yepez an invaluable asset to the medical field and the communities she serves.
