Yesenia is a certified nurse midwife at our Little Village clinic. Before earning her masters in nursing at DePaul University and post masters in midwifery at University of Illinois in Chicago (UIC), she completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at UIC. Prior to joining Esperanza, Yesenia spent over 10 years working in obstetric care and reproductive health at University of Illinois – UIHealth. As a daughter of a single mom, first generation Latina, and previously a teen mom, Yesenia learned the importance of giving back to the community that shaped her, ultimately drawing her to Esperanza. She is passionate about providing health care and education to Chicago’s underserved communities and providing culturally sensitive and inclusive care to our Latino, youth, and LGBTQIA+ populations. Outside of work, Yesenia enjoys plant-based cooking, running, and spending time with her friends and family.
