Valerie Torres is a Rush-Esperanza family medicine resident at our Brighton Park clinic. She completed her medical education at the Ponce Health Sciences University School of Medicine in Puerto Rico, where she then worked as an instructor as part of the Affiliate Faculty in the Basic Sciences Department for the Master of Medical Sciences. She was drawn to Esperanza by her goal of becoming a qualified, culturally attentive family medicine physician while advocating for the communities of Chicago’s Southwest Side. Valerie is passionate about preventative care and addressing health inequities among minorities. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, tv shows, and soccer matches, as well as playing videogames with her wife.
