Alejandra Cardenas brings a wealth of international experience and multicultural insight to her role at Esperanza Health Centers. With eight years of diverse work experience in various mental health settings in Mexico, Alejandra established a strong foundation in her field before moving to Chicago in 2019.
Upon arriving in Chicago, Alejandra quickly immersed herself in the local mental health community. She worked in private practice, at Pilsen Wellness Center, and The Family Institute at Northwestern University, specializing in child, adolescent, and family services.
Her academic journey, culminating in a Master's in Psychoanalytical Theory from Colegio de Psicoanalisis Lacaniano and a Psychology degree from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, complements her extensive practical experience.
Drawn to Esperanza by its mission to provide high-quality care in diverse communities, Alejandra found alignment with her passion for patient-centered, evidence-based care in challenging environments. Her innovative spirit shines through her adaptability and commitment to ensuring continuous care, even during unprecedented times.
Licensed across multiple states and bilingual, Alejandra's impact extends beyond individual therapy. She's made significant contributions to Mental Health First Aid and community-specific training, focusing on Spanish-speaking communities, veterans, and emergency services personnel.
At Esperanza, Alejandra continues to leverage her international experience and innovative approach, embodying the center's mission to empower patients through collaborative, culturally sensitive mental health care.
